Serious Stages Debut @ Live from Wythenshawe Park

Over 70,000 fans partied in the Manchester sunshine for two sold-out concerts, headlined by Fontaines DC and Sam Fender on a Serious Stellar Stage, August 2025.

This was Serious’ first time providing the stage and sitestructures for the third year of concerts hosted in Wythenshawe Park. Asignificant increase in capacity to 36,000 per day meant that independentManchester-based Production Company Engine No 4 adapted the site and brought ina larger stage. The Serious 20m Stellar Stage, with goalpost trusses eitherside to support technical production, created a 40M frontage.

Dave Weeks, Technical Production Manager for Engine No 4 atfor the Wythenshawe Park Concerts explains:

“Serious is one of ourpreferred suppliers at other shows and they have been great here, giving us theflexibility to accommodate the ever-changing needs of the different acts.Bringing them in this year has worked very well and I hope we can develop ourinfrastructure with them next year.

“We needed a largerstage with a 3m deck height, to give us decent sight-lines across theundulating site. This Stellar Stage has also given us additional trim heightand rigging capacity to carry the larger LED screens the headliners wanted tobring in, along with lights and PA. It has allowed us to install more equipmentahead of the event during the day, to avoid overnight changes, which would bedisruptive to residents adjacent to Wythenshawe Park.

“Serious crew havebeen faultless, with Jack Christianson and Cameron Brown going beyond the callof duty; they’ve been very professional throughout the weekend.”

Having launched the Stellar Stage in 2024, Serious added twoVIP viewing platforms on either side of the stage for the first time. Thisrequired some intricate design and engineering experience to optimise the guestviewing areas looking down onto the artists, while maintaining the workingareas at the side-of-stage, along with considerable rigging for LED screens andlighting.

A front-of-stage thrust was installed for Friday’s concerts, featuring Murder Capital, English Teacher, Kneecap and Fontaines DC, which Jackand Cameron removed overnight, ready the Saturday’s show, which featuredBugman, Charlie Noordewier, Olivia Dean and Sam Fender.

Serious Stages also provided the raised viewing platform, four Asteroid speaker delay towers, and the two-storey front-of-house tower, with a raised VIP guest viewing platform giving great views onto the StellarStage.
